Message Some of you may recall that I recently had some contractors damage my Z while I was having some work done on my house.

Based on the recommendation of some on here, I got a reputable local Z mechanic/paint and body shop to give me a quote for repainting the vehicle (I asked for a quote for the whole car because the paint would not match the ~15 year old paint on the panels that did the contractors did not damage). I got what I felt was a very reasonable quote.

In my efforts to be reasonable, I did not ask that the company cover the supply and labor costs for the body panels that were not damaged. I sat down with the rep from the company at fault, and calculated what I felt they should cover (again only the panels that his guys damaged). I was told that "his boss" was prepared to settle for $1000 max - not quite half of what his people were responsible for damaging. He said that this was generous because Maaco will paint the whole thing for under $1000 - lol. I had to ask the guy if he'd ever seen a Maaco paint job. He agreed that that was not an equitable agreement.

That said, he still felt like the ~$3,000 quote that I presented him with was too high. I'm used to seeing quality paint jobs for well over that amount. Would some of you that have had a full paint job fairly recently mind posting you approximate cost? This is far from an air-tight case, but I would like to have input from other Z owners as well as several quotes from reputable shops since further negotiation will evidently be necessary. The paint that I have is the factory DJ2 (Black Emerald). It does have a bit of pearl in it, so I would especially appreciate information from those of you who have had repaints of comparable colors.

Thanks in advance, all (and sorry for the book)!
